Just like in the digital Minecraft game, players in "Minecraft: Builders & Biomes" will explore the Overworld, construct buildings, and extract resources. Points are awarded for buildings, as well as for connected land areas of forest, desert, mountains, or tundra on each player's individual board.

Familiar enemies like Endermen, Creepers, and others appear throughout the game. They can be defeated using weapons collected on the shared game board. Defeating enemies gives players points, as well as other forms of rewards. When the resource cube is emptied, layer by layer, points are tallied, and when the third layer is completely exhausted, the adventure and the game also end. The builder with the most points wins!
