Ticket to Ride: Ghost Train takes the family-favorite core of the Ticket to Ride series and adapts it for a younger audience.
Basically, it's about collecting parade cards, conquering routes on the map, and trying to connect locations such as The Mad Scientist's Lab, The Gingerbread House, and The Lonely Barn, which are shown on your tickets. In more detail, the game board shows a map of a town where certain locations are connected by colored roads. Each player starts with four parade cards in hand and two tickets. Each ticket shows two locations, and the goal is to connect these locations with an unbroken train route to complete the ticket.
During their turn, players can either draw two parade cards from the deck or discard parade cards to conquer a route between two locations by placing their ghost trains on it. For the latter option, players must discard cards that match the route's color and number of spaces (e.g., two yellow cards for a two-space long yellow route). If you connect the two locations on a ticket with your train route, you show the ticket, place it face up in front of you, and then draw a new ticket. If it is not possible to connect the locations on any of the tickets due to blocked roads, you can use your entire turn to discard both tickets and draw two new ones.
If you manage to create a train route all the way from Dark Forest to By the Coast, you get the "trick or treat" bonus.
