The expansion of the tribe continues in Targi: The Expansion. With water as a new element, the tribe gains more flexibility in its expansion. Water acts as a wild card and can, for example, be exchanged for other goods. Many of the new tribe cards, which replace the base game's set, allow players to choose between using gold or water tokens, which can facilitate building.

Targia – a Tuareg woman – is a special piece similar to the robber, but has a more positive effect for players. She starts in the opposite direction to the robber and moves one border card each round. When you place one of your Targi on the same card, you get a benefit: Either take a good of your choice or spend a good to reveal the top card from the draw pile and gain what it shows. Less attractive border cards can now become more interesting thanks to Targia's extra reward.

Finally, quicksand cards give players strong immediate benefits when they place a Targi on them, but since these quicksand cards are placed next to the central playing area, you lose an intersection on the central cards.
