Welcome to a world where you create and develop your own natural habitat, filled with beautiful and diverse wilderness. In this game, you are the architect who expands your area with different terrain types and populates it with wildlife.
Gameplay and Structure
The game begins with you receiving three hexagonal habitat tiles, representing the five different habitat types in the game. During your turn, you choose a new habitat tile that is paired with an animal token. This tile is placed next to your others, and the animal token is placed on a suitable habitat. (Each tile shows 1-3 types of wildlife from the five types in the game, and you can place a maximum of one token on a habitat.) Four tiles are displayed, each randomly paired with an animal token, so you must make the best of what's available — unless you have a nature token to spend to choose freely from every item.
Goal and Strategy
Ideally, you want to place habitat tiles to create matching terrain that reduces fragmentation and creates wildlife corridors, primarily because you score points for the largest area of each type of habitat at the end of the game, with a bonus if your group is larger than every other player's. At the same time, you want to place animal tokens in such a way that you maximize the points they provide, with wildlife goals determined randomly by one of four scoring cards for each type of animal. Perhaps hawks want to be separate from other hawks, while foxes want many different animals around them, and bears want to be in pairs. Can you make it possible?
