FAQ – Family Games & Game Nights at Home

What should you consider when choosing family games?

Choose games with simple rules, short playtime, and clear goals if you have younger children. For mixed ages, cooperative games are often best, as everyone plays together instead of against each other. Games like Zombie Kidz, Dobble, and Dorfromantik are good examples.

Which family games are suitable for children of different ages?

For children aged 4–6, simpler games like Hide and Seek in the Safari Park work well. From 6–8 years, Dobble and Bauer are usually perfect. When children are 8–10 years old, you can introduce cooperative games like Zombie Kidz: Evolution or calmer strategy games like Dorfromantik.

How do you get a game night started at home?

Start with something quick and easy, preferably a game that everyone understands immediately. Put away distractions, set out snacks, and choose games that don't require a long setup. A tip is to start the evening with Dobble (quick energy) and then move on to something longer.

What makes a family game truly fun?

Fast rounds, simple decisions, and lots of interaction. Games where everyone does things simultaneously or turns go quickly create more laughter. Themes also play a big role – children love to recognize themselves in animals, adventures, zombies, or building.

Which family games are best for keeping children's focus?

Games with short rounds and a lot to look at, like Dobble and Zombie Kidz, keep children's engagement better. For slightly older children, games where you build something visual, like Dorfromantik, also work.

How long is a suitable playing time for family games?

10–20 minutes is suitable for younger children. From 8 years and up, 20–40 minutes can work well. Many families appreciate games with several short rounds so you can pause when energy levels drop.

Are cooperative games good for children?

Yes! Cooperative games reduce conflicts, encourage teamwork, and mean that everyone wins (or loses) together. Zombie Kidz is one of our most recommended cooperative games for families with children.

How do I best introduce children to board games?

Start with games that have few rules, many visual elements, and clear progress. Let the children make their own decisions, even if they are not "optimal". This makes playing more fun in the long run.

Which games are suitable to play with both children and adults?

Dobble, Dorfromantik, and Zombie Kidz are three games that work wonderfully for mixed groups. Everyone has something to do, no one feels left out, and the games are fun for adults too.

Which family game is best for the first game night?

Dobble is definitely the easiest to start with. If you want something more cooperative, we recommend Zombie Kidz, which also evolves the more you play it.
