    Before the War of the Ring, Sauron sought to bend the wills of the kings and rulers of the Free Peoples with subtle intrigues. His goal was to turn them into powerless puppets or at least weaken them as a preparation for his conquest plans. When the war broke out, they fought bravely against the Dark Lord, but for some, the weakness nurtured by Sauron proved nearly fatal.

    The role of the rulers of the Free Peoples and their weaknesses is the focus of "Kings of Middle-earth," the third expansion for War of the Ring. Their role in the story has been significantly expanded with new figures and rules that bring Theoden, Denethor, Dain, Brand, and Thranduil to life. Additionally, there are new rules for siege battles, including siege engine figures, and new units to bolster the armies of the Shadow.
