Hive is a highly addictive two-player strategy game that is not restricted to a board and can be played anywhere on a flat surface. Hive is made up of twenty-two pieces, eleven black and eleven white, resembling various creatures, each with a unique movement mechanism.

The game begins when the first piece is placed, and the pattern that the subsequent pieces form as they are placed becomes the playing surface (the pieces themselves become the board). Unlike other games of this type, the pieces are never eliminated and not all of them need to be played. The goal of the game is to completely surround your opponent's queen while trying to block your opponent from doing the same to your own queen. The player who successfully surrounds their opponent's queen wins the game.

Hive has won several awards, including the 2003 International Gamers Award - General Strategy: Two-Player and Mensa Select 2006.

The game is for 2 players and suitable for ages 9 and up. A game takes approximately 20 minutes.
