In "Shimmering Skies", the latest addition to Lorcana, players step into the role of Illumineers, magical guardians who use powerful inks to summon Disney characters, known as "glimmers". These glimmers appear in both familiar and imaginative ways as they gather to explore Lorcana's mystical world. Players compete to collect 20 "lore" by leading their characters on quests or challenging their opponents.

This expansion celebrates Lorcana's triumph over Ursula, who was defeated in the previous set "Ursula's Return". But as the festivities continue, a new enigma arises as the Illumineers try to repair the damage Ursula's glimmer has caused to the Great Illumineer.
