Imagine a world where poker isn't about kings, queens, and aces, but about cockroaches, rats, and skunks! Welcome to "Cockroach Poker", a game where bluffing is central, but with a fun and slightly tricky twist. The goal of the game? To get someone else to collect four cards of the same type of creepy crawly.
The game contains 64 cards, with eight copies of eight different types of creepy crawlies. To prepare the game, shuffle the deck and deal it evenly among the players.
When it's your turn, choose a card from your hand, place it face down on the table, slide it towards any player, and declare a type of creature, for example, "skunk". The player receiving the card then has two choices:
• Accept the card, say "true" or "false", and then flip the card over. If the player is wrong, she keeps the card face up in front of her; if she is right, the player who gave her the card places it in front of them.
• Look at the card and then pass it on, face down, to another player, either repeating the original animal or changing to a new one. The new player faces the same choice of accepting or passing it on, unless all other players have already seen the card, in which case the player must accept it.
The game ends when a player has no cards to pass on their turn, or when someone collects four cards of the same type of creature. That player loses, and everyone else wins.
"Cockroach Poker" is perfect for 2-6 players aged 6 and up, and a round takes approximately 20 minutes to play.
