Now it's not like that. Now we have this. Leaders stand against the screaming elements and all invaders, protecting as many as they can. Angels and savvyheads struggle constantly against scarcity while bullets fly and everything breaks. Visionaries gather people around them, but are they protectors, saviors, visionaries, or just wishful thinkers? Gang leaders, gunluggers, and Hocus cut out what they can and defend it with blood and bullets. Drivers seek and acquire, looking for that opportunity, that perfect chance. Artists and Maestro D's remember beauty, or remake beauty, hold it in their hands, and whisper come and see, and don't worry what it will cost you. And the Brains, oh, the Brains see what no one else does: the psychic maelstrom of the world, the terrible desperation and hatred pressing in at the edge of all perception, that is the world now.
