Skull is the essence of bluffing, a game where everything plays out in the participants' heads. Each player places a card face down, and then each player in turn places another card—until someone feels confident enough to claim they can turn over a certain number of cards and reveal only roses. Other players can then outbid them by claiming they can turn over even more cards. The player who made the highest bid must then turn over the specified number of cards, starting with their own. If only roses are revealed, the player wins; if a skull appears, the player loses and removes one of their cards from the game. Two successful challenges lead to a win. Skull is about maintaining your poker face and meeting your opponent's gaze.
