Harrow County: The Game of Gothic Conflict

Specifikationer
Harrow County: The Game of Gothic Conflict is an asymmetrical strategy and conflict game based on the acclaimed comic book series Harrow County. Here, players are thrown into a dark Gothic world filled with witches, curses, and strange creatures, where each faction plays in completely different ways. The result is a thematic board game that feels as much like a supernatural story as it does a tactical area control game.
One player can take on the role of the protectors of Harrow County, trying to save its inhabitants from doom, while another controls the dark families who want to destroy the area. With three players, the buried witch Hester also enters the picture — an ever-present force that slowly spreads her influence through the land and corrupts the world around her. The game is based on asymmetrical objectives and abilities, meaning each side requires completely different strategies and mindsets.
The most striking aspect of Harrow County is how strongly the theme permeates the gameplay experience. Tyler Crook's illustrations give the game an almost hand-painted feel, and each game session unfolds like a chilling folk tale where players try to control areas, manipulate opponents, and survive supernatural threats. There's a clear tension throughout the game, constantly balancing aggression, positioning, and risk.
Mechanically, the game also stands out thanks to the unique cube tower built directly into the game box. Battles are decided by dropping cubes into the tower, creating an unpredictable and dramatic chaos that perfectly suits the game's dark atmosphere. The combination of tactical control and random uncertainty makes conflicts feel alive rather than mathematical.
Despite being relatively new, the game has already gained attention in the hobby world and was nominated for Gra Roku Best Two Player Game 2025, further solidifying its reputation as one of the more interesting asymmetrical strategy games of modern times.
This is a board game for players who appreciate asymmetrical conflicts, strong atmosphere, and strategic decisions where the theme truly takes center stage. Particularly good for groups who enjoy games where each faction feels completely unique.
