In King of Monster Island, you play as gigantic monsters who must cooperate to defeat a titan-like Boss before it can build an interdimensional portal. Each turn, players roll dice to damage minions and the boss, heal themselves, gain energy and buy cards, move around the island, activate human support, and increase their fame. The Boss's actions are entirely controlled by the game itself. Using the results of dice rolled into the volcano, the Boss will move, activate its minions, and attack nearby monsters. Their goal: to have their minions set up the pillars needed to construct the portal. To win, players must defeat the Boss before it manages to activate the portal or defeat even a single monster.
Otherwise, Earth will be annihilated!
